Leinster Reports 2014 WICKLOW   29/11/2014

Report:CNMB Cill Mhantain

Term one.

We run competitions in Hurling, Football ,camogie  and girls football. These competitions are run over two days in blitz form. All these fixtures are run on a 9 aside basis, on smaller pitches and junior goals . One solo, one hop is allowed with unlimited  substitution.

These competitions are used to grade teams for the leagues later in the new year.

The Games Development Administration coaches help us to organise events as well as supplying refs and setting up the pitches. The GDA team also run indoor events during the winter period.

Our AGM takes place in October. Members of the GDA attend as well as County Board officers are invited.

In November we run a Trath na gCeist, largly based on the GAA.

The leagues take place in the Spring, divisions being decided following the Autumn competitions. These leagues are run separately in the North East,West and South. County finals take place in Balinakill, the new centre of excellence in the county.

The Allianz INTO skills competition takes place in the Spring with two pupils from each school taking part in every code.

The CNMB year ends with an athletics meeting at the Charlesland Sport and Recreational Centre.

We enjoy a healthy relationship with the County Board and have representation at Coaching and Development meetings and county AGM. We also are well supported by the media. We have weekly reports in the Wicklow/Bray People, The North Wicklow Times and East Coast Radio.

Hurling Initiative

A lot of schools throughout the county have difficulty in maintaining hurling due to the cost of helmets and hurleys.  To overcome this problem we recently spent 5ooo euro on helmets and hurleys. Thankfully this money was on hand due to the success we have enjoyed over the years at the National Awards. The scheme will be administered by CNMB Cill Mhantain  and  the GdA. This equipment will be spread throughout thr county

Thanks to our excellent PRO,Pamela McDermot we have a very good website which is updated on a weekly basis.
