All Ireland Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Quiz Information
A chara,
This school year celebrates the launch of the first ever All Ireland Cumann na mBunscol primary schools’ sports quiz.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the teachers who so graciously made themselves available to offer guidance and support in helping to establish the first ever All Ireland Cumann na mBunscol primary schools’ sports quiz.
A sincere word of thanks to our long-established sponsors Allianz, who have come on board to provide us with generous sponsorship and support of this event. Cumann na mBunscol deeply appreciates their continued partnership and commitment, which plays a crucial role in making this event possible.
Qualification Process
Cumann na mBunscol na Náisiúnta are inviting each county to host their own Cumann na mBunscol sports quiz.
The overall winner in each county will qualify for the All-Ireland Cumann na mBunscol quiz final in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Sunday 23rd March 2025.
There will also be an opportunity for each province to run their own provincial quiz, allowing two further schools in each province to qualify for the All Ireland final as provincial representatives.
A total of 40 schools (32 county winners and 8 more teams -two provincial representatives from each province) will then compete at the All Ireland final.
Age Limits & Eligibility
All children who attend a primary school in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland are eligible to take part.
Format
The quiz will involve 80 sports questions, including 40 GAA questions and a picture round of 10 questions.
IT IS 4 MEMBERS PER QUIZ TEAM.
If a tie breaker is needed, there will be one round of three questions, followed by another round of three questions and then rounds of two questions until the teams are separated. The tie breaker questions can be on any sport.
Dates & Deadlines
County quizzes should be completed by 31st January 2025.
Provincial quizzes should be completed by 28th February 2025.
All Ireland Final – Tullamore Court Hotel on Sunday 23rd March 2025.
We encourage each county to organise and host their own quiz well in advance of the deadlines above, to ensure ample time for preparation and participation ahead of the All-Ireland Final in March.
Details of the prizes will follow in due course.
The very best of luck to all involved and if you have any further queries, please feel free to email our national secretary Fidelma Sheridan at Secretary.cnmb@gaa.ie or you can email me directly at declanward99@gmail.com.
