Munster GAA / Mary Immaculate College – Teachers Summer Course Gaelic Games in the Primary School
‘Gaelic Games in the Primary School’ is a blended course – 2 days Face-to-Face and 3 days online.
The course will give teachers the opportunity to coach peer-to-peer enabling them to use their teaching skills in physical education and empower them to coach the skills required for Gaelic Games.
The Online-part will allow teachers to explore how Gaelic Games fit into a school schedule with themes including:
1) Gaelic Games in the Primary School 2) Preparing for coaching and coaching sessions 3) How to develop Fundamental Movement skills 4) Skill Development – Developing How to Coach Skills 5) Organising Games and Games-Based-Learning 6) Identify resources to aid coachingThe face-to face part of the course will take place in the Tailteann Building in Mary Immaculate College from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Monday 3rd July and Tuesday 4th July.
The Online part will continue from Wednesday 5th July and must be completed by 7th July. This part will include discussions based on the 6 points above and allow teachers to explore how they can enable children to develop as players,athletes and people.
