National Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Week took place from June 13th – 17th. We had a massive response across the whole country with hundreds of schools participating in a hugely successful week. Daily activities were set in hurling, camogie, gaelic football, handball and rounders by some prominent inter county stars such as Donegal’s 2012 All Ireland Senior Football winning captain Michael Murphy, Dublin Footballers Dean Rock and Ciarán Kilkenny, Kilkenny’s All Star Hurling goalie Eoin Murphy, Armagh GAA’s Ryan Gaffney, Cork’s All Ireland Handball champion Catriona Casey, Limerick Footballer Peter Nash, Wexford’s nine time All Ireland Senior Rounders Medal winner Kate O’Reilly, Sligo footballers Jackie Mulligan, Katie Walsh & Joshua Flynn, Roscommon Footballer Jenny Higgins, Leitrim star Ryan O’Rourke, Tipp hurlers John McGrath & Paddy Stapleton along with former Tipperary senior hurling captain Shane McGrath. There was huge engagement on social media with these daily activities. Michael Murphy’s video received almost 26000 impressions on Twitter. Our menu of activities proved very popular with schools participating in skills challenges, recreating famous match scenes, interviews with teachers, art competitions, jersey days and much more. The week was an incredible success and we cannot wait to do it all over again next year!
